Puntarenas
This city is mostly used as a stopover port for many cruise ships that sail the waters of the Pacific Ocean. Still used as an important commercial fishing port, Puntarenas offers visitors and locals alike, a variety of tantalizing fresh sea foods.
Puntarenas is also the starting point for many excursion and the ferries that go to Playa Naranjo, Paquera. A lively and attractive city, perhaps one of Puntarenas’s most interesting features is the Paseo de los Turistas. This is a tree-lined promenade adjacent to the beach. This area turns into a colorful street on weekends, as people from all over flock the popular restaurants, discos, cafes, bars and hotels that are found here. |

Oasis on the Beach is just a 45-minute flight from San José to Golfito where a boat taxi will bring you to your beachside cabina. It is also accessible by car or bus. Just 12 miles north of the Panama border, the cabinas have the spacious Golfo Dulce on one side and, on the other, the Rio Coto Colorado, a scenic river where many species of birds, monkeys, and other wildlife abound. Corcovado National Park is just an hour's boat ride away.
