La Fortuna
La Fortuna de San Carlos is the gateway to the magnificent Arenal Volcano. It is located in Alajuela province, and connects the Volcan Arenal area with the cloud forests of Monteverde and Santa Elena and the northern lowlands of the country.
A charming and quiet town, La Fortuna is easily accessible from the capital city San Jose, and offers some panoramic views of the spectacular Arenal, Costa’s Rica’s most active volcano.
Beside the volcano, this town has other great tourist attractions like the La Catarata de la Fortuna, a breathtakingly beautiful waterfall that falls from a dizzying height of 70 meters.

 The Cataratas Resort is in near the village of La Fortuna but still has a wonderful view of the Arenal Volcano. Beautiful, lush rainforests surround the valley of the volcano allowing for a rich variety of flora, fauna and agriculture.

| Erupciones Inn Bed and Breakfast is located to the West of La Fortuna, and directly facing the active side of the Arenal Volcano. The bustling village of La Fortuna is the closest town to the volcano offering services such as international and local cuisine, quaint shops, post office, banks and internet. It has become quite the tourist destination and hot spot of Costa Rica visitors.

| The Arenal Volcano Inn is located in the Arenal Volcano area but just a few minutes from the bustling town of La Fortuna. The Arenal Volcano Inn has a direct view of the Arenal Volcano and currently where the lava is flowing. The nearby town of La Fortuna is located in the valley of the Arenal Volcano offering a variety of local and international restaurants as well as shops and bakeries. This region is very fertile and lush allowing for an abundance of produce to flourish as well as affording a stunning backdrop of vibrant green forest and flowers.
